The 2006 Hull Real Ale & Cider Festival will take place in the Mortimer Suite of the Hull City Hall on Thursday 2nd, Friday 3rd, and Saturday 4th November.
The beer and cider selection will once again provide something for everyone, male or female, and all ages with the following beer styles represented: Milds, Bitters, Best Bitters, Strong Ales, Stouts, Porters, Real Lagers, Speciality Beers, Organic Beers, plus Cider and Perry.
And this year, for the first time, a small selection of foreign bottled beers will also be available.
The organisers will have the usual difficult job of deciding the 70 real ales that will appear at the festival. The backbone of the festival will again be some of the “2006 Champion Beers of Britain” and a selection from the local breweries. Favourites and new beers will make up the balance.
37 handpumps will dispense session strength beers (up to 3.9%) and another 33 stronger strength beers will be served by gravity direct from the cask.
A new cider and bottled beer bar will be created in the central ‘domed’ area.
Lined glasses will ensure that customers will receive full measures.
There will be the usual Pub & Brewery tombola and the popular Pub Quiz.
Live acoustic entertainment on the Thursday evening.
The three day festival is organised by the Hull & East Yorkshire Branch of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale). The opening hours will be 12.00 noon - 11.00 p.m. on the Thursday and Friday, and 12.00 noon until 8.00 p.m. on the Saturday. Admission is free during the day and £2 after 6.00 p.m. on the Thursday and Friday. Entry is free to card carrying CAMRA members at all times.
